At Collaboratory we facilitate a community of practice among the campuses that use our platform, and over the last 6 months we have watched our administrators wrestle with how they can respond, through their professional roles as community engagement scholars and practitioners, to systemic racism and the events of 2020 in general. This gave rise to an informal anti-racism working group, which has met monthly to reflect and share strategies for moving forward with a plan to stand and fight against systemic racism and work toward agendas promoting a more equitable society.
This work has quickly evolved since the summer of 2020 as interest in this topic has grown both within Collaboratory’s community of practice and in higher education community engagement more broadly. To deepen our support for this work, in the spring of 2021 we will be facilitating monthly gatherings for anyone — from novices to experienced practitioners, scholars, students, and community members — who want to align their work more effectively with community change through an anti-racist lens. Agendas will be loosely structured to provide time for dialogue and conversation from participants, so please come with questions or topics you wish to address!
