A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) evaluates the accessibility of web products according to each criteria of Section 508 of the United States Rehabilitation Act. Section 508 details standards for the safety and accessibility of websites for individuals with disabilities. It is a document created by a third party reviewer to assist purchasers and users of web-based products:
- Understand the level of accessibility and compliance with Section 508
- Compare compliance among similar products
- Identify the accessibility standards met by the product
